Nutrition is the selection of foods and preparation of foods, and their ingestion to be assimilated by the human body. By practicing a healthy diet, many of the known health issues can be avoided.
After obtaining my undergraduate degree, I received a scholarship to get a PhD in nutritional biochemistry. I have always maintained my interest in nutrition, however since developing Type II diabetes my interest has been very much self motivating. I am not a nutritionist, however I will be able to give you my insight into nutrition and how it relates to your overall health. Blood work can be ordered and analysis can be done of your hair to see if there is any deficiencies. An appropriate referral will be made.
Dr. Jayne received her PhD from the University of Alabama, and she would be the person that would develop overall strategy for your nutritional health.
There are some controversies in nutrition that no one but you can make the decision. e.g. Should you drink alkaline ionized water? There are as many articles that are pro as are con to this controversy. We will be able to point you in the right direction, but you will ultimately have to make the decision. My hope is that I can spark your interest to ensure your awareness of diet and nutrition. I am not close minded and realize that there are many controversies. At one time a high carbohydrate, low fat diet was recommended by most people. Now, a low carbohydrate diet is advocated by most. Some people are vegetarian and extremely healthy, while some are not. I feel that proper nutrition will aid in the healing powers of your natural immune system. Also, in the cosmetic side of my practice, you can readily identify a person that has an unhealthy lifestyle. A proper nutritional intact can have a profound influence on your overall health.
